Jacques Hérold
Surrealist of 'crystallized' figures and co-creator of the Marseille tarot.
Hérold moved to Paris in 1930 and joined the surrealists. During the war, in Marseille, he worked with Breton, Lam, Masson and others on the 'Jeu de Marseille' card deck. His figures appear flayed or crystallised, as if exposing the structure inside matter.
