Dimitrie Paciurea
Symbolist sculptor of chimeras and Brâncuși's early mentor.
Paciurea studied in Paris and became a professor at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts. His late series of 'Chimeras' — hybrid beings of air, water and earth — is a high point of European symbolist sculpture. His monumental 'Giant' (1906) stands in Carol Park, Bucharest.
