Ion Irimescu
Classical-modern sculptor who worked for over eight decades.
Irimescu studied in Bucharest and Paris and lived to 101, remaining active almost to the end. His serene, compact figures — maternities, portraits, studies of the human body — continue the classical line of Romanian modernism. A museum in Fălticeni holds hundreds of his works.
