Sabin Bălașa
1932 – 2008 Corlate, Dolj
Cosmic romantic, painter of the 'Hall of Lost Steps' in Iași.
Bălașa's dreamlike, blue-violet universes of floating figures and galaxies made him one of the most popular Romanian painters of the late 20th century. His monumental murals decorate the Hall of Lost Steps at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași. He also directed animated films.
