Camil Ressu
Monumental painter of peasant life and influential professor.
Ressu trained in Iași, Munich and Paris and was a founder of the 'Arta Română' society. His synthetic, firmly drawn compositions of peasants at rest and at work combine classical structure with Romanian subject matter. He taught generations of painters at the Bucharest academy.
