Theodor Pallady
Aristocratic modernist, friend of Matisse, master of nudes and still lifes.
Pallady spent decades in Paris, where he studied in Gustave Moreau's studio alongside Henri Matisse, with whom he remained friends. His art is restrained and architectural: reclining nudes, still lifes with flowers and objects, and views of the Seine from his studio on the Île Saint-Louis. He returned to Bucharest in 1940.
“Drawing is the probity of art.”
