Iosif Iser
Expressive painter of Tatar women, harlequins and the Dobrujan Orient.
Iser started as a political caricaturist before turning to painting. Influenced by Derain, he developed powerful, simplified forms; his Tatar women from Dobruja and his harlequins and saltimbanques became signature subjects. A museum in Ploiești holds a large part of his work.
