Geta Brătescu
Central figure of Eastern European conceptual art — the studio as a world.
For seven decades Brătescu turned her Bucharest studio into a space of play and invention: drawings made with closed eyes, collages, textiles and performances for the camera. Rediscovered internationally late in life, she represented Romania at the 2017 Venice Biennale and was shown at Documenta 14 and Tate Liverpool.
