Ion Grigorescu
Performance and film pioneer who made private, political art under dictatorship.
Grigorescu filmed and photographed himself in his flat — boxing with his own double, staging the body — at a time when such work could not be exhibited. His 'Dialogue with Comrade Ceaușescu' (1978) is a landmark of covert political art in Eastern Europe. He also paints church murals.
